The new session of the Missouri General Assembly convened on Wednesday with members of the House and Senate being sworn into office. Leadership was formally elected in both the House and Senate for the next two years.  Representative Elijah Haahr is Speaker of the House and Senator Dave Schatz is President Pro Tem of the Senate.

Bills pre-filed since early December have now officially been filed.  Formal filing of legislation will continue through the first several months of the session.

Governor Mike Parson will make his State of the State address on Wednesday, January 16.  Following his speech and release of his budget recommendations, the General Assembly will then settle down and start the process of hearing and moving legislation through the process.
