Governor Mike Parson made his State of the State address on Wednesday. As expected Governor Parson stressed workforce development and infrastructure in his State of the State address. This included his support for increased broadband coverage, $75m in increased funding for workforce development programs and an infrastructure plan for transportation funded by budget savings.

In addition to announcing his legislative priorities, the Governor released his budget recommendations for the next fiscal year. These recommendations will begin to take shape as the House Budget Committee and its subcommittees start to hear testimony from state agencies and interested parties. The projected budget outlook could require the state to make cuts or withholds during the remainder of the year.  This could also be a factor in developing the FY 2020 budget.  A link to the full budget follows.  https://oa.mo.gov/budget-planning/budget-information/2020-budget-information

Speaker Elijah Haahr and President Pro Tem Dave Schatz released committee assignments this week. With this now done, bills will begin being referred to committees for hearing.  A link to the House and Senate websites are attached so you can review the new committee assignments.  https://house.mo.gov/Committees.aspx?cluster=true

Many of the committees in both chambers have new chairmen as well as many new members of the committees. We anticipate a number of the committees having organizational meetings next week with a full schedule of hearings coming soon after the organizational meetings are completed.

As you would expect, new bills continue to be filed on a daily basis. New bills of interest have been added to the bill summary and status reports.  Should you have questions, please let me know.
